What's SOPA?

If you do ANYTHING on the internet, which I assume you do if you are reading this, PLEASE watch the videos below explaining SOPA and how it will affect you! If you want to freely access the internet without censorship, I strongly suggest you fight SOPA and join with me and the rest of the online world to fight against this government censorship injustice!

Brief intro by Ty Moss a tech reviewer/blogger.

                                                               4 Minute Explanation

20 Minute Explanation Hosted by Our Friend Chris Pirillo at

The internet is OURS for the keeping, and NOT the governments for the taking! I don't see why you would want sites like Facebook, or YouTube, or BLOGGER(!!!!!!), or my favorite game Minecraft to be blocked! No access! Nada! Nothing! Complete government control of how/what we access on the internet! If you still don't understand, or " live outside of the U.S and find yourself wondering why you should care about our laws, consider this: SOPA’s passing will affect you!" (Joey Davidson)

So you ask "Why are you talking about this now? This has been around for a few months now..." Well here's why: this Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 many popular online sites, games, personal sites and servers will be blacking out in protest of SOPA. If you care about how you access information, what you do online, and what games you play etc., I BEG of you to read up on this bill and stand with the online world in defense of it's freedom! Read up, write your congressmen and women, sign the petition and RAISE awareness!

Please go here to read more about Wednesday's blackout: Wednesday's Blackout,
Go here to sign the petition: Petition SOPA,
And here to contact your congressmen: Write your congressmen!

So what will we be doing here at Sam's Tech Talk? Well for starters, we will be reposting this post three more times this week twice before and once after Wednesday and throughout the year to continue to raise awareness and secondly, we too will be taking down the site for the day. A small but strong act against this injustice! I encourage all of you who have ANY type of site: personal, national, international, social and beyond to take it down for the day in a protest for your rights and freedom!

"A small group of people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

  1. Down with censorship, people of the earth arise !!

  2. This sounds like a really ineffective, yet potentially disastrous, way to attempt to stop piracy... sort of like setting off a nuclear bomb to remedy an ant infestation.

  3. @ A. Brenda

I don't get what you're trying to say...

  4. Did my explanation via email help clarify what I was trying to say? Internet piracy is the ant infestation, and SOPA is the nuclear bomb....

  5. It did. Thanks :) been at Calli's today. Will reply more detailed tomorrow ;)
